A few new additions have been made to the website of late.
You can now take Paypal payment directly from your adverts by using the Paypal “ buy it now “ button code. You can find that under merchant tools in your Paypal account if you have one. This is a big plus point is a retailer wishing to use the website as an additional outlet for mail order, or if your requiring a deposit for accommodation etc.
You can now also use HTML code to spice up your advert by adding text effects and additional pictures to your advert ( the extra pictures are also free, we wont charge you for having them ). A little help page is available on the website to help you use the various codes in your advert text.
We have now provided a basic facility for manually purchasing adverts from us and an alternative payment method. On the website you will find a printable order form. You can complete that online to save hand writing it, then print it and post it to us with a cheque for the appropriate advert. This is only available for our 180 day & 365 day options due to the cost of cashing cheques.
If you use paypal at all, its always a good thing to remember this simple security tip.:-
Never ever open an email that looks like its from paypal, or looks like its from any bank or building society for that matter, that requests your account details. If you do get such an email, don’t click on any links within it, always go to the relevant website you usually use, and log in that way and enquire about the email you received. Of course, if you receive such an email for an organisation you have never used, delete it, its likely to be fake.

The last remaining reported problem, ghost images on new adverts, has been fixed. We have no outstanding issues reported to us relating to the site.

In addition to our links with local communities sites, we are now also listed in the new D &G website, "The Natural place ".

We have been working away on the Members screens to improve the feedback of information to you when you log into your account.
The new screens show a complete breakdown of all the different advert types you may have stored in your account for future use. Also, when you place a new advert you now can select the exact advert type from the ones in your bank you want to use for a particular advert.
Other issues we have fixed include a problem when you edited a live advert. When you did this the database didnt retain the existing advert contents. Now it will.
Other issues we know about and are currently working on include :-
Ghost images. Lately some new adverts placed that have images have also had 3 ghost images placed on them. The ghost images fail to load and generate an error. This is not happening in all cases, but untill we find the problem I will be manually corecting any affected adverts I find.
Re listing expired adverts. Currently the database is erasing the previous contents of the advert.
We hope to have those issued resolved soon.

End of Febuary and record hits have been achieved. Certainly no shortage of people looking for items !
Total hits 25441
Total visiting sites 609
Average hits per day 908 !!!!
Average hits per hour 37.
All our account problems have now been fixed and the Free Adverts issues have also been cured.
Lets see what March brings us.

New account problems and an easy work arround (this is a temoprary measure ).
If you have tried to register & purchace a paid advert, the website may not update your account with the adverts you have purchaced.
As a temporary measure to avoid this please follow the following steps:-
* When your registering an accont to use paid adverts, fill out the registration form as normal.
* When you hit submit you will be taken to the advert selection & payment screen DO NOT USE THAT SCREEN. Hit the HOME button at the top of the website.
*When the Websites front page has reloaded, enter the username & password you have just chosen in the boxes on the top left of the site.
*You should now be logged into your account. You should see a red link called " Buy more Credits " If you click that, you can now purchace the adverts you want and your account will be updated correctly .
I stress this is a temporary measure while we make changes to the web sites database.

New account delays.
As we are currently working on the accounting system any new acount signups may encounter a delay before your account is fully activated. This could be between 12-24 hours after sign up. If you account is still not active after that time & showing the correct number of available adverts, please contact us immediatly on admin@gallowayclassifieds.com
You should experience no delays in placing your adverts once your account is fully activated.
The Advert expiry notification system is now fully operational. You shoud receive an email a few days in advance of your advert or account expiry as a reminder.

Quick udate on or site stats. below is a screen shot showing Number of hits for Feb so far and average number of hits per day etc.
We have almost achieved 800 hits per day. Thats a lot of people looking for things to buy ! if your a Business user, for £23/year its excellent value for money.

You can now easily re-list any adverts that have expired. This option is now available to you from your user account when you select to place a new advert. From this screen you normally get the option to edit or delete your existing adverts, but from today, any expired adverts will remain available untill you delete them from your account. You will need to have a suitable advert in credit on your account first.
Any adverts that have already expired before today will not be recoverable.

Bulk/Spam mail problem.
It has been reported that some email providers are filtering membership email into Bulk or Spam folders.
If you have signed up for an account, but have not received your email from us, please check any bulk or spam folders in your mail box. If there is still nothing to be found, please contact us. We can manually activate your account for you.
